EMC

EMC is a coalition between it's member who's focus is to help it's members with energy efficiency and other environmental issues.

The coalition was founded in 2007 and today it has 38 members. The members vary in size and sector from the biggest energy producer in Sweden, to a local car sales company.

Activities in the energy sector

Activites for 2010 are not decided yet, but will include breakfast meetings where we eat breakfast together and afterwards listen to a seminar. Also we have different workgroups on different subjects that will continue their work.

Local North Sea SEP projects

  • Networking structures - PPP's
  • Student assignments connected to business

Characteristics from the energy perspective

The region Halland does not differ to any big extent from the rest of Sweden. The electricity comes aprox. From water (45 %), nuclear power (45 %), wind (2 %) and other (like burning of household waste) (8 %).

Within our region we have Swedens biggest nuclear power plant Ringhals north of Varberg, owned by Vattenfall, a member of EMC.

76 % of all apartments in Sweden get their heat from CHP but the most common energy source for heating of private houses is electricity where 40 % of the houses get their energy from electricity.

In our region we have one of Swedens largest paper mills, Värö bruk, that is a big supplier of hot water for the CHP system in the northern part of the region.

We also have a rather big amount of energy from wind turbines.

other important issues

We have a close cooperation with Campus Varberg
