Raise the use of Sustainable Energy Planning

Firstly it is important to improve the regional, sub-regional and local energy planning through joint development, implementation and evaluation of a transnational model for strategic energy planning.

Furthermore a holistic approach including energy production, saving, innovation through energy, value chains and a reduction of energy imports to keep the money in the region must be implemented.

Innovational processes for regional development

Secondly the project must be a catalyst for innovative implementation-processes for energy concepts through alternative working practices and cooperation models. An integrated approach should use different networks on all levels and will incl. SMEs, citizens, public authorities, project developers, planners and parties of the housing sector etc. Therefore it is necessary to improve the contribution of businesses in this development pertaining to delivery of energy business cases and models, testing of pilot cooperation models, and to develop new methods on the local level as well as the transnational evaluation and dissemination of models and cases. All this will be topped off by the creation of tools for step by step actions to develop energy efficient regions.

Capacity Building

The third point deals with sustainable networking and knowledge building on the transnational level. It is planned to build up an on-line platform, a virtual academy approach and a WIKI concerning sustainable energy. These steps will be a good contribution to achieve an important aim, to increase knowledge capacities. These steps are supplemented by establishing and maintaining learning- and training-modules. All this will foster transnational cooperation, especially between the R&D structures and regional/county public authorities and planning instances.

Identify new cooperation models on various NSR

The fourth objective is to facilitate cross-sectoral and interdisciplinary collaboration and cooperation on national, regional and local levels based on the Triple Helix model of innovation. Identifying new cooperation models on the NSR level will be of great importance to the competitiveness of the NSR and must be supported through careful and conscious decision-making on local/regional levels.

New methods, roadmaps and tools for sustainable

Systematical development of new methods, road maps and tools must be achieved through an integrated approach. The idea of regional planning is a holistic view. It is the basis for the development of strategies and road maps and is essential in regional development. Planning and decision making processes have to follow defined methods to guarantee quality. Furthermore, tools to identify facts are needed, but also to support planning procedures for public authorities, the private sector, housing sector etc.

Links to national policies

For the further implementation of North Sea-SEP, the national energy related policies in the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, and Sweden, their impact on the implementation of the project and the latter’s possible impacts on national policies has been analyzed.
